Business Valuation
We perform business valuations for divorce cases, partnership and family disputes, the purchase or buyout of a business, and dissolved or destroyed businesses.
Mr. Chakonis is a member of The Institute of Business Appraisers and has conducted training sessions for accounting professionals on valuation methodologies. He has appeared in court as an expert witness in business-valuation matters, and our methodology is documented and defensible — backed by experience under cross-examination.
Frequently we encounter situations in which a business owner has underreported income — sometimes to reduce a tax obligation, other times in the context of a divorce or a partnership conflict. Uncovering it is a matter of knowing where to look.
From our case files
An analysis of the business’s linen and laundry invoices provided us with an accounting of the number of tables used — and, from there, of the revenue the owner had never reported.
We discovered that the husband maintained two sets of pre-numbered invoices. Once that discrepancy surfaced, the case settled.
